Privacy Policy

Overview

Munjez is an offline-first productivity app available on Windows, Linux, and Android. It includes task management, habit tracking, calendar, notes, whiteboard, focus timer (Pomodoro), stopwatch, countdown, and customizable desktop widgets. We designed it to keep your data local whenever possible, with optional cloud features available when you choose to sign in.

Data We Collect

Munjez does not require account creation to use its core features. The app does not collect usage analytics or telemetry. When you use Munjez without signing in, no personal data is collected or transmitted.

Account & Authentication

You may optionally sign in using Google or email/password via Firebase Authentication. When you sign in, we receive and store the following information provided by your authentication provider:

  • Email address
  • Display name (if provided)
  • Profile photo URL (if provided by Google)
  • A unique user identifier (UID) generated by Firebase

This information is used solely for authentication and enabling cloud sync. We do not share it with third parties or use it for advertising.

Local Data Storage

All your data — tasks, habits, calendar events, notes, whiteboard drawings, focus sessions, countdown timers, and app settings — is stored locally on your device in a SQLite database. Without signing in, nothing leaves your device. You are responsible for managing backups and device security.

Cloud Sync

When you sign in, Munjez offers optional cloud sync via Google Firebase (Firestore). Synced data may include tasks, folders, habits, countdowns, memories, notes, focus sessions, and stopwatch data. Sync uses a last-write-wins strategy and is encrypted in transit. You can control which data categories are synced from the app settings.

Real-Time Collaboration

The Whiteboard feature supports real-time collaboration. When you join a collaborative session, your drawing actions and cursor position are transmitted to other participants via a WebSocket server. No personal data beyond your display name is shared during collaboration sessions.

Network Connections

Munjez connects to the internet for the following purposes:

  • Checking for app updates via GitHub
  • Downloading additional ambient sounds on demand
  • Authentication and cloud sync via Firebase (when signed in)
  • Fetching Hijri calendar and prayer time data via the Aladhan API
  • Real-time whiteboard collaboration via WebSocket

No usage analytics, telemetry, or tracking data is transmitted during any of these connections.

Notifications

Munjez may send local notifications for task reminders, habit reminders, sleep reminders, hourly chimes, and focus timer alerts. These notifications are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to any server.

File Access

Munjez may access your file system only when you explicitly choose to export or import data (e.g., saving a backup), attach images to memories or notes, or open whiteboard files (.munjez). The app does not scan, index, or access any files without your direct action.

Account & Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from the app settings. Deleting your account permanently removes all your cloud-synced data from Firebase, clears your local data, and deletes your authentication record. This action is irreversible.

Crash Reports and Diagnostics

Munjez does not automatically send crash reports, analytics, or diagnostics. Logs are stored locally on your device for debugging purposes and are never transmitted.

Third-Party Services

Munjez integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Firebase Authentication & Firestore (Google) — for sign-in and cloud sync
  • Firebase Storage (Google) — for storing user-uploaded content
  • GitHub — for update checks and release downloads
  • Aladhan API — for Hijri calendar and prayer time data

These services are governed by their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

Children's Privacy

Munjez is suitable for all ages when used without signing in, as it collects no personal data in offline mode. If a child signs in, the authentication data described above will be collected. We recommend that children under 13 use the app with parental supervision, especially when using cloud features.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
